Over the years, many interpretations have been given for the Primavera (Spring), but most agree that the central theme is one of love and marriage and when done in the right order will bring forth sensuality and fertility. This painting (c. 1482), the largest mythological painting in the Early Renaissance, was commissioned by the Medici family. The painting was hung in the bedroom of a bride to a member of the Medici family.
