This 263 piece puzzle is an illustration of the Battle of Mazandaran, and is part of the Hamzanam, a manuscript telling the Adventures of Hamza, the uncle of the founder of Islam, Mohammed. The Hamzanam manuscript was created during the rule of the 16th century Moghul emperor Akbar. Scholars believe the faces in the picture were scratched out at some point by iconoclasts, and then repainted in another era. The puzzle pieces evoke a geometric mosaic, and were designed by Seattle artist Maria Berg
